Carla, MS, Bilingual and Bicultural Therapist

She/Her/Ella

Carla uses a variety of therapeutic methods uniquely designed to fit her clients’ needs including a strengths-based, trauma-focused, and client-centered approach. However, all her therapeutic work is done through a systemic lens that allows her to confront issues of oppression. This helps her understand the many factors that can affect someone’s personal experience and thus the therapeutic experience. Carla emphasizes kindness and empathy, which enables her to better address everyone’s unique challenges. She works to create a safe therapeutic space for people of all identities, particularly those who are faced with oppression and hold marginalized identities. Carla holds a Master of Science degree from Western Oregon University in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling. Before becoming a staff therapist, Carla completed her internship at Ophelia’s Place.

Carla understands that it is hard to find a balance between two cultures and that it can be difficult trying to categorize, organize and make sense of everything you’ve known and everything you’re learning. It’s why she is extremely honored to meet the rising demand for bicultural services. Carla believes that smooth and open communication is essential to a healthy counseling relationship, so she gladly serves folks who are Spanish speaking.

Carla would tell her 13-year-old self to use her voice because she is powerful and capable of making change. Reach Carla at carla@opheliasplace.net or 541-730-3545.

Carla is a Professional Counselor Associate in the state of Oregon and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Washington supervised by Jessica Sarontay, LPC #C5736.
