Therapy Services

Everyone can benefit from therapy. At Ophelia’s Place, we provide professional individual, family, and group therapy to girl-identified and gender-expansive youth ages 10-18. Our strengths-based, goal-oriented approach helps youth feel supported, self-actualize their strengths, and practice new skills for coping with difficult feelings or challenges in their lives.

Our therapists have master’s degrees or are interns in master’s degree programs for Social Work or Couples and Family Therapy, and have significant experience working with adolescent girls and their families. It’s important to us that therapy is accessible to all youth. Therapy services at Ophelia’s Place are provided to youth via virtual telehealth (or in-person post-pandemic) regardless of income level. We have sliding scale payment options available so no youth is turned away due to financial barriers. Ophelia’s Place does not offer mental health or psychiatric evaluations, assessments, diagnoses or labels, medication prescriptions or adjustments, mandated services, adult therapy, or accept payments via insurance, including OHP.

Prior to seeing a therapist, girls must complete an orientation. Please call (541) 284-4333 to learn more.

If you or a loved one are experiencing a mental health crisis or considering harming yourself, please call 9-1-1, or contact one of the following 24-hour crisis and support resources. OP does not provide crisis services and we want you to be taken care of.

Individual Therapy

A youth meets one-on-one with one of Ophelia’s Place’s therapists in a confidential, secure environment either virtually or in-person. OP Therapy is empowerment-based, so youth must consent to participation in therapy services. We do not provided mandated treatment. Youth under the age of 13 must also have consent by a parent or guardian to participate. Families are typically engaged throughout treatment to a degree, depending on each youth’s individual circumstances, needs, and treatment goals.

Family Therapy

Family therapy at Ophelia’s Place is youth-centric. When family members are invited into therapy sessions, they will have the opportunity to learn ways to support their child’s treatment goals, work on communication skills, and strengthen family relationships. Our therapists have formal education in family therapy and are trained in relational work.

Group Therapy

Group therapy is a valuable way for youth to discuss their concerns and feel supported by each other under the supervision of a therapist. During our groups, Ophelia’s Place therapists offer guided discussions, interactive skill-building activities, and creative expression.

Therapy groups change each term, so check out what we’ve got coming up.

Queer Space

Queer Space is our weekly support group for members of the LGBTQIA+Queer community of girls, trans youth, plus non-binary, gender nonconforming, and gender fluid folks. The group provides professional and peer support helpful in managing challenges or discussing topics including their coming-out stories, queerphobia, depression and anxiety, media representation, personal sexuality and gender exploration, and personal mental health. It’s a great way for queer youth to build their community in a safe, well-informed, and supportive space. Check out our video about Queer Space!

Parent-Daughter Circle

Girls and parents or guardians can sometimes find it challenging to communicate and connect with each other, whether it’s day-to-day, or during specific moments in their relationship. During OP’s Parent Daughter Circle, girls and their adults work together to strengthen the skills they need to communicate better, honor boundaries, and be supportive of each other. Parent Daughter Circle is a great companion to other parent-daughter activities at Ophelia’s Place available through our After and Out-of-School Program.
