OP Therapist Earns National Certification in Family Therapy

OP Therapist Rikki Redhead recently earned a national certification for Family System Trauma, which will allow her and the OP Therapy Team to offer more tools to youth in need of, and open to, family therapy.

The certification gives Rikki a step-by-step process to work through with clients who are open to weekly family therapy. She has already used the FST model with five families, and uses some of its concepts with many of her clients’ parents and guardians.

“From my perspective, our clients’ presenting concerns are almost always related to the family dynamic at home, and I think it’s rarely possible to truly alleviate a problem without some family involvement,” she said.

One of the families Rikki used the model with graduated quickly. “It was a really rewarding experience to witness their progress and feel like I was able to offer them tangible tools.”

The certification required a 12-week training and five-month certification process.
