Programs and Services

Ophelia’s Place is a prevention based organization dedicated to helping girls make healthy life choices through empowerment, education and support.  We serve all female identified youth ages 10 – 18.

We  accept credit cards, cash and checks as payment for services and activities. A sliding scale payment option and scholarships are also available.

Drop-In:

We provide, at no cost, a safe, healthy place for girls after school to:

  • Visit
  • Work on homework
  • Chat with interns or staff members
  • Meet new friends
  • Read or just have a snack
  • Play games
  • Do crafts
  • And so much more

After & Out-of-School Program

Ophelia’s Place strives to empower, educate, and support girls ages 10-18 by offering a variety of classes, clubs, and one-time events throughout the academic year (September through June). Activities provide girls opportunities to pursue special interests in a safe and supportive environment with their peers, and teaches them life-long skills.

Our workshops take place after school, Monday through Thursday on no-school days, and occasionally on Saturdays.

Classes vary by term (quarter), but include the following core topics:

  • Self-care/health
  • Technology/science
  • Creative/expressive arts
  • Physical
  • Mind/body
  • Leadership

Activities can include:

  • Spa Day (self-care/health)
  • G-TEC: Computer Programming (tech/science)
  • Creative Arts Playshop (creative/art)
  • Hip-hop Dance (physical)
  • Guided Meditation (mind/body)
  • Women’s Advisory Council For Youth (WACY) (Leadership)

Psycho-Educational Groups

Our groups are designed to nurture self-esteem, help girls maintain authentic connection with peers and adult women, teach skills for making healthy choices, and allow for genuine self-expression through discussion and activities. Find out more…

Summer Programs

We provide opportunities during the summer for girls to build skills, self-awareness, and self-esteem while gaining new friends. Topics for the four day camps have included:

  • Relaxation & Meditation
  • Cooking and Baking
  • Science Workshops
  • Improvisational Theatre
  • Creativity and Self-Expression

Strength-Based Therapy Services

We provide professional, individual, family and group therapy using a strength-based, goal oriented approach. We encourage young women to develop their voices, giving them the opportunity to talk about any issue important to them. Our therapists understand the needs of girls within the cultural and social contexts of our environment. Therapy is provided on a sliding fee bases. Thanks to generous donors, therapy services are provided to girls regardless of income level. Find out more…

We have strong partnerships with most local middle and high school staff, administrators, students and parents. We provide mixed-gender classroom presentations, girls empowerment groups and staff and parent trainings. Our partnerships focus on:
