Dinner, live and silent auction and a presentation honoring this year’s Rosaria P. Haugland Award recipient, Nancy Golden.

Nancy’s consistent advocacy for children began in the early seventies after earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. Nancy has been a teacher, administrator, university professor and the Chief Education Officer for the State of Oregon. She was a winner of the Tom Ruhl Leadership for Equity Award by the Oregon Leadership Network in 2012, and received the Springfield Alliance for Equality and Respect’s Human Rights Leadership Award in 2009. In 2011, Nancy was selected as Oregon’s Superintendent of the Year. Join us as we honor and thank Nancy for her leadership and legacy.

Each October, Ophelia’s Place organizes Ophelia’s Gems, a fundraiser that supports a significant portion of our operating costs. The event is filled with food, silent and live auction, and a lot of fun. Ophelia’s Place takes the opportunity to showcase one of the girls who has benefited from utilizing some of our services, and we provide an achievement award to someone in our Eugene, Junction City, or Albany service areas.

2017 Gems raised more than $170,000 – the most raised at any of our Gems events. These funds allow Ophelia’s Place to serve more girls and families, and will support our expansion into the Junction City and Albany communities.
