Ophelia’s Gems

Each October, Ophelia’s Place organizes Ophelia’s Gems, a fundraiser that supports a significant portion of our operating costs. The event is filled with food, silent and live auction, and a lot of fun. Ophelia’s Place takes the opportunity to showcase one of the girls who has benefited from utilizing some of our services, and we provide an achievement award to someone in our Eugene, Junction City, or Albany service areas.

The 2018 event is already being planned. Stay tuned.

2017 Gems raised more than $170,000 – the most raised at any of our Gems events. These funds allow Ophelia’s Place to serve more girls and families, and will support our expansion into the Junction City and Albany communities.

We also honored Mary Spilde with the 2017 Rosaria P. Haugland Award. Mary is best known as the past president of Lane Community College, and has played a notable role in helping local school districts and schools prepare students for success beyond high school through Connected Lane County and Women in Transition at LCC.

“Ophelia’s Place does so much to change the trajectory for so many young women and all of us benefit from that. When girls who have faced many challenges in life show up at Ophelia’s Place they are not seen as broken. Rather this organization sees them as naturally creative, resourceful and whole and works with them to build a life of meaning and potential. That is a great mission.” – Mary Spilde, 2017 Rosaria P. Haugland Awardee at Ophelia’s Gems

Raising $175,000 was a feat we couldn’t do alone. Everyone made the event so wonderful. Thank you for supporting Ophelia’s Place.
