RIP Maya Angelou

We are saddened to hear of the passing of one of our great heroes and inspirations, Maya Angelou. A much-honored writer, poet, and activist, Maya Angelou is an amazing role model for girls and women around the world. The portrait shown here was painted by a group of girls in 2012 and auctioned at our GEMS fundraiser. It was purchased by a generous and kind gentleman who asked that it be donated back to Ophelia’s Place with the words, “Tell them an old man said to never give up.” We are fortunate to have the legacy of Maya’s powerful and beautiful words. Winter Term Events Start Next Week!

Not only is Drop-In starting back up next week (Monday – Thursday 3-6pm), but we are starting several of our Winter Term Events! We can’t wait to see you again and are very excited about what’s coming up this month. Register anytime for our fantastic Dance Fusion class (5:15pm-6pm Tuesdays), which starts on the 7th! Join us for ongoing clubs and groups starting next week: Anime Club and Drop-In Yoga on Mondays, Spectrum on Wednesdays, and WACY as well as a Ramble Around the Block on Thursdays! Registration is also open for other upcoming January events!
